Board Opportunities
The Small Faces Board of Directors periodically seeks to add new members to the Board. We are always happy to talk with prospective candidates about serving on the Board or about other volunteer opportunities with Small Faces Child Development Center and Crown Hill Center.
We look for board candidates who are excited to be ambassadors for Small Faces and the mission of the Center, including an ongoing commitment to fighting bias in our community. We especially seek applications from the BIPOC community, immigrants, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and other underrepresented and historically marginalized groups.
Some of the specific skills that are often helpful when serving on the Board include:
- Financial Expertise and Leadership – this skillset is helpful for supporting the Finance Committee and helping with budget planning and long-term financial stewardship for the Center
- Fundraising – as a non-profit institution, we seek to grow our sources of non-tuition revenue through fundraising in order to offer financial assistance to families and to support other strategic priorities for the Center
- Anti-Racism and Anti-Bias – we look for members to support our Anti-Bias Committee and to help eradicate institutionalized racism and bias from the policies of the Center, and to enact policies with the goal to counteract the effects of institutionalized racism. We as the Board have made commitments to anti-racism and anti-bias, but we know we have much more to do.
- Real Estate / Building Industry – this experience is helpful to support our Facilities Committee and guide projects and strategies for the continuous development and maintenance of Crown Hill Center, which is over one hundred years old!
- Crown Hill Community Connections – most of our current board is comprised of parents and alumni parents of Small Faces; we also seek members from the greater Crown Hill community to drive the vision and mission of Small Faces and Crown Hill Center
- Legal – legal expertise is helpful to ensure that we comply with our bylaws and other obligations as a non-profit institution
Most of all, we seek caring and dedicated members of the community who are passionate about helping Small Faces and Crown Hill Center continue to be an excellent resource for children and the broader community for years to come.
As a member of the Board, you’ll work with a group of fun, dedicated, and supportive individuals who similarly care about the long-term success of Small Faces. You will have the opportunity to develop leadership and collaboration skills, and contribute meaningfully to a small and successful non-profit organization that has tremendous positive influence in young children’s lives and in the greater community.
